Mitchell Mania

Yeah, so life is crazy. Here is a run down of what's been going on (started writing this on Thursday):

  • Most Asked Question #1: "Are you getting any sleep?"...answer NO, well, a little. Will is actually really good and he isn't super fussy, but he is getting up about every 3 hours (and I feed him for an hour) so I'm getting about 2 hours of sleep in between. Ends up being about 4-6 hours a night, but all broken up. If anyone knows me well enough, I love my sleep. A friends husband used to give me a really hard time because I really try to get 8-10 hours of sleep a night...HA, I can't even imagine that much uninterrupted. We're surviving, but it's a lot harder to "nap" during the day with two of them.

  • Most Asked Question #2: "Does Ella like William?"...answer YES, she loves him. When he cries she looks for him and she loves to touch him and kiss his head.

  • Most Asked Question #3: "What are you going to call William?"...this one is tricky. I call him either Will or William...Joe is trying to get everyone to call him Billy...really, I don't care...he can have as many nicknames as people want to give him (nice ones only). Oh, and again, no Willy!

  • I don't think I have written anything about this (see what happens with a second kid). Both William and Ella went to the urologist today (for separate issues). Ella has had a few UTI's (urinary tract infection) and they were concerned that she doesn't empty her bladder completely (associated with the lack of muscle tone)...they are going to review a few of her tests she's already had and they may have her do a few more in the coming weeks. William had a natural circumcision and so we needed to see the urologist to make sure everything is okay. It is, but he will have to have surgery to correct some skin issues and we are scheduled for June 11th. Yeah, I've decided all Mitchell children are going to require extra attention...didn't want to be upstaged by his sister I guess.

Dinner Date

Brian and Meghan Claunch came over, brought us BBQ and hung out with the kids. Here they are with William.

Sweet Sleeper

...of course it's not the middle of the night...he's usually wide awake from 10p-4a

Full Monty

This is Ella's favorite outfit. She LOVES crawling around naked right before bathtime!!

Congratulations Sara and Nathan!

I just wanted to do a quick post to congratulate my friends Sara and Nathan on the birth of their twins, Aaron and Audrey! They were born 2/26/08 and babies and mom (dad too) are doing great! Here's to sleepless nights for a while guys!

The Sweetest sound for today

So I had another doctor appointment today to get my weight checked (don't ask!), blood pressure taken (doing good there), more blood drawn (not sure I have any left) and to try and hear the hear beat with the Doppler machine. Last time my doctor couldn't find it and she sent me for a sonogram to check how things were going. So this time I prayed that Ziggy would be a little more flexible and allow us to hear her/his heart beat. Guess what? Prayer worked! Within seconds my doctor found the heartbeat and was able to follow Ziggy while he/she moved. It was a sweet sound. So far everything sounds great and Ziggy has a strong heartbeat. Fast too. Some might say that this is an indication that Ziggy is a "she". We won't find out until late March what we are having. I guess it depends on if Ziggy is in a cooperative mood or not. I'm praying now that he/she is. I am ready to start buying stuff for a nursery!
I appreciate everyone's prayers for Ziggy so far. Please keep them up. This is an exciting time as well as a scary time. For me anyways. I know God has a wonderful plan for this child, I just wish I knew every detail like God does!
Later!

Compare at 3 Weeks

Ella and William at 3 weeks...do you think they look alike?

Catch up

I was hoping that with the impending arrival of Ziggy that I would have more to blog about. Not the case. I still go a week without posting. So sorry for those who use this as a way to keep connected with my life!
I have been feeling a little better lately. I had a rough morning yesterday and a scary evening last night. I got really dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out last night. I called the doctor this morning and she said that was a normal thing with pregnancy but if it happened again to come in to get checked out. All I want is a normal pregnancy with no more scares! Ugh! My whole first trimester was like that. Multiple calls to the doctor, ultrasounds, lots of blood drawn, a lot of different medicine to regulate hormones and on and on! I realize there are other women who would love to be pregnant even if it wasn't a perfect "textbook" pregnancy. I am grateful to be pregnant. Grateful, excited and scared. I'm just venting. Please, no one take offense. I just need to get my frustration out!

Pickle Party

Kim Pickle had a birthday evening on Saturday and a few girlfriends decided to join and celebrate:

Double Duty

Joe watched both kids on Saturday night so that I could go out with some girlfriends. Here he is feeding both kids at the same time.

Curry's Practice

Our friends, Chris and Elizabeth Curry, came over on Saturday to bring us dinner. They also used it as practice since they are due in a few weeks!!

Valentine's Day Pictures

Valentine's Day

Here is a slideshow containing pictures of Joe and I...before kids! Looking at these pictures again I realize how much more I love my husband every day. Here are a few reasons that I love him so much...and that I know God created us exactly for each other:
  • He stays up at night with our kids so that I can sleep, even when he's the one who has to get up early the next morning and spend the day at work. (That's right, even during the week Joe will get up with either kid so that I don't have to.)
  • He does the dishes EVERY night...amazing.
  • He does as much (if not more) laundry than I do...and doesn't procrastinate, which I'm good about.
  • Joe prays for our family daily, but also prays over me for decisions and for strength. He makes sure that our children see the importance of prayer. His true desire is that all of our children come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and that they develop the same relationship with our Lord that we have both come to rely on.
  • He makes me laugh...out loud. I don't usually really laugh out loud, don't know why, but it's rare...Joe makes me laugh out loud, all the time.
  • He knows I'm crazy and he loves me anyway, might even love my craziness.
  • I never knew that a man could literally ache for his children, I've watched my husbands heart break and grow at the same time with our children. I know that my father loves me endlessly, but I've never watched as a father fell in love with his children...I've watched it twice now.
  • He is so smart with our family finances. He keeps us budgeted and makes sure that we are tithing to the church, giving to ministries, and being good stewards.
  • He loves to be in shape. He is excited about running another marathon this year and is excited about our family doing outdoor things together (not sure we'll ALL be running). I'm really proud that he did a marathon in June 2007.
  • He loves us. He loves us all unconditionally. He is so commited to our family and never wants to be anywhere more than at home with the 3 of us.

Happy Valentine's Day

Love: Andrea, Ella, and Billy
